Lazy Boy rocker recliners can be taken apart into 2 pieces; back versus seat.?

The back slides vertically over a mechanism at each side of the chair. On the exterior of the slide is a rotating handle about 1.5 inches long. When the chair is assembled correctly, which way should the handle be turned? To the ceiling or to the floor?
