What type of construction is best for wooden chairs in a commercial environment?

I'm looking at wooden library chairs for a commercial environment. Obviously I want a sturdy chair and when I see something like "mortise and tenon," is that the best type of construction for such a chair? Is there something else I should look for? What type of questions should I ask the vendor?

  1. The mortise and tenon joint has been used on chairs and other quality furniture for centuries. One feature that most quality chairs have is a set of "H:" shaped bracing attached to the legs to strengthen them. The site below shows the type of braces I am talking about. http://www.windsorchair.com/chairs2_thumbs.htm
