How can I get my kitchen chairs clean without always having to rip the whole chair apart?

I recovered my chairs in the kitchen and my kids wipe things such as mustard, ketchup and many other things on my chairs. I spend hours taking the chairs apart and uncovering them, washing them and then putting them back together. What is an easier way to get them clean and have a chair that doesn't have hard crusty fabric leftover? It gets frustrating constantly cleaning them.

1. Spray the chairs with a protectant. Then they should wipe clean.
