Would you mind sitting on helium blown-up chairs on a Plane?

One way of helping with plane weight.. Would you mind if the chairs were helium, with a thin frame and a coating for comfort.. Would you mind? No, helium is not flammable, its as flammable as air. You may be thinking of Hydrogen Gas.

Danielle: the cabin is pressurized, so they wouldn't pop i think it's be easier to use regular cabin air, as it can routed from the pressurization system through the frame and used to keep the seat properly inflated. of course, factoring in the extra cushion, repair/patch kits, and either the new air system or extra bottles of helium, it's hard to say much weight would be saved
7. Make the computation. Compare the weight of the helium used with the weight of the air used.

10. The 787 uses extremely light carbon fiber chairs because they have also noticed that heavy chairs are a waste of weight. Your Idea isnt so bad, but people are not open minded enough to accept it. There have even been planes with inflatable wings, but people are close minded.
11. Nice thinking, but you forget that: * Inflatible furniture is uncomfortable. (Try it sometime - Sticky) * A durable enough envelope would probably weigh about as much as a properly designed seat.
