Do you think it's rude when people recline chairs on an airplane?
It bugs me for some reason. I just feel like this is rude, especially if you're in the last row. Does this bother anyone else?

- I dont think its rude in most cases. I mean, it sucks to have the last row, but, i cant blame anybody for wanting to recline because i am usually very uncomfortable on planes and reclining helps. If you need more leg room, ask and most people understand. It is rude when people are eating though.
- Nope. If the person is sitting in a seat that reclines, they are entitled to recline it. All the more reason for us not to weigh 50 pounds more than we should.
- no
- The airline provides reclineable seats. I don't blame people for using them. But I hate it when people are too overweight to fit in their own seat and they end up encroaching on yours.
- It doesn't bother me....unless (and this has happened to me), they look back...they see that you have your tray down, and they STILL recline their chairs. If someones tray is down...then don't recline your seat. lol. that's my biggest pet peeve when flying
- They would not design the seats on an airplane to recline past the point of "being rude" The seats recline maybe 6 inches max. Maybe you would be more relaxed if you reclined your seat and forget about the other passengers. Do you really use the 6 inches of space that is being used by the reclined seat? I dont think so. So my answer is NO. It is not rude to recline your airplane seat. Don't sweat the small stuff! :-) Good Luck
- It bothers me, yes, but there is little I can DO about it. Most of the chairs are engineered so that they don't interfere TOO much with YOUR comfort. I occasionally recline, but only part-way out of "respect" for the person behind me.... and then for only part of the trip. Otherwise, it is not rude to do... it is allowed. Have a polite day.
- Yes, this also irritates me. I've had an experience where I was sitting in the second-to-front row of economy class. The row in front of me had plenty of room, I'm talking like at least 7 or 8 feet of space in front of them, yet they have the nerve to recline their seats so that we were crammed in even more. I know that they bought the ticket, have the right to recline...blah blah blah, but it is definitely rude to recline your seat if there are people sitting behind you. If you're in the last row, it's even worse. When the people up front recline, it sets off a chain reaction and suddenly you are feeling very claustrophobic.
- Yes if there's not too much space in between the chair in front of you and you. Oh, and i don't like it when they move it a lot....not just reclining....but like where it kinda bounces on your side and your head is close to the seat and they move and it hits you!
- whats the point of having chairs that recline if you aren't going to use them? it doesn't bother me unless i'm trying to eat cuz if i'm trying to eat then the tray is way too close to me when someone reclines their seat. other than that i figure if i don't have enough room then i can just recline my seat as well. and i've been in the back row when someone has recline in front of me and i still don't think thats rude cuz like i said before whats the point of having a seat that reclines if you aren't going to use it. true it sucks when you're in the back but i don't blame anyone for reclining even if it does inconvenience me.
- The seats are meant to recline. How is that rude?
- Actually no....because the seats are designed to go back. Anyone who buys a plane ticket has a right to put their seat back. I think it's rude when the people behind you get p*ssed off and hit on the back of your seat. Yes, this has happened to me...when they were NOT serving drinks or food. Some lady got mad because I put my seat back, in front of her son. She gave me some story about how her son needed to get up and use the bathroom, and I said, well then he should get up and go!!! (It was more about her, and not the kid) If it's either snacks or the beverage cart and you know people will be using their trays, then by all means you should keep your seat forward until everyone is finished. Otherwise, anyone should feel free to put their seat back and NOT have to explain why. I think a better solution would be for the airlines to COMPLETELY re-design their seating area....and so everyone wouldn't have to worry about reclining seats or feeling claustrophobic because there's only an inch of space between them and the seat in front of them
